CB1 Gallery is pleased to present, in our West Gallery, a solo exhibition of the work of Iranian born artist Ardeshir Tabrizi, Paintings & Notes. The show juxtaposes the artist’s personal notes, almost journal like, with his recent paintings on Mylar and paper that explore his search for a personal truth. The exhibition will be on view in our West Gallery from May 6 – June 10, 2012, with a reception for the artist on Sunday, May 6th, 5 – 7 p.m.

Ardeshir Tabrizi’s work explores the artist's personal search for truth, balancing his own vision with a genuine and honest depiction of things that exist to all of us. As his work has developed, the imagery and technique that pours into Tabrizi’s work is a reflection of his search for a more candid self and a more open expression of what he sees. This has become a process of additions, removals, layering, and revisiting each piece until he finds satisfaction that exists on a deeper level than that of the surface. In many ways, it has become parallel to what he sees as the individual's search for answer suitable to the questions of his life.

…in the back of that taxi, closing my eyes, I placed two fingers on my wrist. I too was seeking life, but all I could feel was a vast emptiness.

My emotions reach such peaks and plateaus that sometimes I feel I may burst from the pressure. The only way I can channel the energy is by painting. The only way I can drown is by drinking and the latter is almost petulant.
